Welcome to my website. I am a medical resident in Detroit working at Detroit Mercy. I am focusing on a problem with great personal significance to me - cleft palate. My first son was born with cleft palate, and after going through the trial and decisions and the reconstructive surgeries while in medical school myself, I decided that this is what I would focus on. Cleft palate has the potential to really harm children, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Luckily, the surgeries to reconstruct the palate are relatively easy and cause no lasting problems.
You might be thinking "Why me? Why us? Why our family?" and while I cannot answer those questions (cleft palate is caused by a wide range of things) I can help you move past this birth defect, and I look forward to doing so.
